in this is love
I've been meditating this morning on the love of God. Such perfect and complete love.
"Hope priceless is your steadfast love, O God! The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings. They feast on the abundance of your house, and you give them drink from the river of your delights." Psalm 36:7-8
"In this is love, not that we have loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation of our sins." I John 4:10
"So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us." I John 4:16
It is Valentine's Day! And I am rejoicing - truly rejoicing - in the lavish love of my Savior! While my heart longs for marriage, I was encouraged this morning by a blog post I read that said "the Lord gave me this intense longing for marriage and He has also seen fit to not fulfill this desire right now - so I am called to JOY in this unfulfilled desire." Amen!!! I've asked the Lord for much joy today, and He is giving it to me. I want to guard my heart from selfishness, self-pity, and an inward focus. For married or single, the love I am to cherish most is the love my Savior has expressed so perfectly on the cross. The Savior of all has called me His own. Deserving death, I've been called into life. THAT is cause for rejoicing! I praise you, Lord, for the lavish love you bestow on my daily - expressed as well through dear family and friends!
So while today is still a poignant reminder of my desire for a love story of my own, I choose to trust You, my Savior, with these longings. Have Your way in my heart and life. I am blessed beyond measure through Your never-ending love!
Happy Heart's Day!
