Rest

After a wonderful weekend in Ohio with my parents and grandparents, and then a trip down to DC last night to visit my dear friend Dannah from San Diego, I find myself absolutely "done" tonight. I am physically weary, feel the beginning of a cold/flu and have a week full of activity awaiting me. On top of this, my heart is very burdened for a handful of friends who are in the midst of very difficult situations - relational and physical. Out of my great love for these friends, I find that I carry their burdens often in ways I wasn't intended to. And this definitely wearies my body and soul. I am reminded of the encouragement the Lord brought me a few weeks ago when the group from Philly was here - "You carry many people heavily on your heart. Remember that the Lord is carrying you." What a great reminder that He is carrying me. He is carrying my dear friends who are struggling. His sovereign care brings me much comfort.

I am indeed grateful for the gift of rest.  I am reminded of what a good gift rest is - straight from the Lord's hand. He is a good God who delights in refreshing and restoring His people. And He is the great burden-bearer. May we find our true rest in Him!

Ahh, I too can relate to carrying burdens for others that I am not meant to carry. Thank you for this encouraging post!

I can totally relate - I've been almost in tears over being too busy lately & think I need to schedule some down time to rest & spend time at His feet. That rejuvenates me. Maybe we can encourage each other to make more room in our lives for that:) Love your sweet sincere desire to serve Him and others. You are beautiful - inside & out!

What a good reminder! Thank you for sharing about the much needed rest our hearts need! As we always say to each other, our hearts can be so burdened and busy with even the best of things, huh? Sometimes that is how the Enemy attacks!

And abou tthe burdens...Thank you for sharing this, dear friend. I am sorry we didn't get to touch on any of these burdens last night... I will pray for you... and those friends.

Love you!!!
