Snuggled up and happy!
Well, I just experienced my first snowstorm since I moved back East! Wow! It all started Friday afternoon at the office when everyone was talking about "the storm." The more I heard, the more I became convinced that it might be wise for me to run home, pack up all my gifts and stuff for Christmas and head to my parents in VA early. I'd hate to be stuck in my little basement apt, all alone for Christmas. Plus, it would be so much more fun to be snowed in with my family! :) SO, that's what I did. However, that must have been what all of Gaithersburg was doing as well - leaving town! It took me 6.5 hours to travel 100 miles!!! And the last few hours were a tad scary, as snow was falling, cars were wrecking, etc . . .But the Lord kept me safe, for which I'm so grateful! It was definitely an adventure! As soon as I walked in the door to my parents' warm and cozy house, it began really snowing. By the morning, we had at least a foot and it just increased all day Saturday. So fun to watch when you're cozied up and warm inside the house! Well, I decided I wanted to walk in it, so I made a few trips to the mailbox throughout the day (about 1/4 mile away). It was a blast and I charted the snow at over 16". I think we must be close to 2 feet now. So here I sit, snuggled and warm in Fredericksburg, VA. Sleeping, reading, wrapping gifts, watching Christmas movies and enjoying family cheer! Today we are going to bake for Christmas. We're hoping we can actually drive to Ohio on Wednesday. We'll see what the Lord has! Church was cancelled here (as well as at Cov. Life), so we'll be listening to Jeff Purswell's sermon on the Incarnation that he did last year. Looking forward to that! All in all, it's been a wonderful memory!!! I'm so grateful for the Lord's care!! Merry Christmas to all!
