Reflections on the eve of my 31st birthday
THis is the last half hour of my 30th year. I find it hard to believe! For this past year has really flown by. As I reflect on what the year has held, many things come to mind. Many sweet times with my dear family (holidays, a trip to San Diego, trips to Ohio, etc.), my second Pastors College year and graduation, a year of much growth in the Lord, and I could go on. I am overwhelmed by my Savior's care for me, His kindness, His bountiful blessings. It has been a rich year!
One of the things the Lord has really been teaching me this last year is a deepened trust in Him. An unshakeable confidence in Him and in His goodness towards me. He is for me! And He is working all things for my good and more importantly for His glory. So my prayer as I embark upon this coming year is that my trust in my Savior would grow by leaps and bounds. That my faith would continue to deepen and grow. This morning the Lord really illuminated the following passage...and I want it to be my verse for this year. That I would grow and flourish in Him this year, fully confident in Him, drawing strength from His word, not giving in to anxiety or despondency, but rejoicing in Him in all things.
"Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit." Jeremiah 17:7-9
This coming year is a blank page, waiting to be written by my Savior's hand. I trust Him fully!! Here's to another year!! I'm ready!
