2011 - A New Year Awaits!

2011 has begun! I can hardly believe it! Oh how good the Lord has been in 2010. Through countless blessings (sweet times with family, many opportunities to serve, deepened friendships both new and old, financial provision, health, and I could go on and on), it was a rich, grace-filled year. There were difficulties as well, some of them very painful, but as I look back what stands out to me most is the Lord's active guidance in EVERY detail of my life! He is leading and guiding me. He is at work!

Bolstered in my faith by that knowledge, I enter 2011 confidently, joyfully, fearlessly, expectantly - Expecting GREAT mercies! O Lord, give me faith-filled eyes that see life with Your perspective. Your hand in all circumstances.

My theme verse for the year is found in Psalms 31:15 which says "My times are in thy hand." As I was reading a devotional by Octavious Winslow (an old Puritan writer), I was struck by the following words and quickly realized this verse would be my theme for the year -

"My times are in thy hands. Let this precious truth divest your mind of all needless, anxious care for the present or the future. Exercising simple faith in God, be careful for nothing. Learn to be content with your present lot, with God's dealings with you, and His disposal of you. You are JUST where His providence has, in its inscrutable but all wise and all righteous decision, placed you. It may be a position painful, irksome, trying, but it is right. Oh yes! It is right. Only aim to glorify Him in it. Wherever you are placed, God has a work for you to do, a purpose through you to be accomplished, in which He blends your happiness with His glory."

Because of Christ, I can say with much joy - IT'S A NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!

I love this line "You are JUST where His providence has, in its inscrutable but all wise and all righteous decision, placed you." That is such a good reminder! I was just talking about that with one of my best friends tonight. So comforting to think about. :)
