Desperately Dependent
So this morning I awoke and anxious thoughts began swirling almost as soon as my feet hit the floor. You see, it's a very demanding season at work..one class is buried trying to finish up the year in a few months while the next is preparing to come. And Im trying desperately to serve both. Then throw in a lot of traveling to see family, a sick grandma who I'm carrying heavily on my heart and trying to see as often as I can, and add to that the normal little daily trials that can sometimes be more sanctifying then the big things! Example: dropping my iPhone in the toilet, losing the transmission in my car and navigating finding a new car, getting lost for an hour and a half in scary areas of downtown Louisville and almost running out of gas...I think you get the idea. It's been a full month! Well back to this morning, all of these things were churning through my head. How would I EVER complete all the tasks required of me? It seemed a little hopeless.
And here's where I got it right. It IS hopeless. Apart from Christ, I can do nothing. Not even the good works He's called me to. I am fully dependent on Him for anything and everything I accomplish. As I was reading from Psalm 31, I was reminded that my times are in his hand. He will equip me. And oh how I dont want to just try to pull myself up by my bootstraps and motor on. I want to face each and every morning desperate for my Savior. Desperate for his empowering presence. Desperately dependent. Then and only then can I face each day with joy and hope, enjoying the sweet communion with my Savior that such dependence brings.

“Our circumstances are all in opposition to the promises of God. He promises us immortality: yet we are surrounded by mortality and corruption. He declares that He accounts us just: yet we are covered with sins. He testifies that He is propitious and benevolent toward us: yet outward signs threaten His wrath.
What then are we to do? We must close our eyes, disregard ourselves and all things connected to us, so that nothing may hinder or prevent us from believing that God is true.”
